{"id":4702,"date":"2012-07-02T20:54:00","date_gmt":"2012-07-02T20:54:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/leap.staging.ribbitt.com\/evs\/vacation-season-and-identity-security\/"},"modified":"2012-07-02T20:54:00","modified_gmt":"2012-07-02T20:54:00","slug":"vacation-season-and-identity-security","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/leap.staging.ribbitt.com\/evs\/insights\/vacation-season-and-identity-security\/","title":{"rendered":"Vacation Season and Identity Security"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Gone are the days of losing a cell phone and the biggest worry being OMG, how&#13;<br \/>\nam I going to get all my contacts back?<span>&#13;<br \/>\n<\/span>Losing a phone today is almost worse than having a laptop stolen.<span> <\/span>With a laptop, the thief will have to do some&#13;<br \/>\nhunting to find your banking website, credit card websites, and so on.<span><\/span>With a phone, the apps we all love and adore,&#13;<br \/>\nmake a thiefs life very easy.<span><\/span>They simply&#13;<br \/>\ngo to the apps and instantly know where you bank, what credit cards you hold,&#13;<br \/>\nhave access to your Facebook account giving them access to all of your personal&#13;<br \/>\ninformation with just a few presses of the finger.<\/p>\n<p>The bank does offer the ability&#13;<br \/>\nto enroll in account notifications via email so you know your account balance&#13;<br \/>\nand activity at all times.<span> <\/span>The ironic&#13;<br \/>\npart is the bank immediately sends out the email letting you know there has been&#13;<br \/>\nactivity on your account so you can act quickly if you didnt authorize the&#13;<br \/>\npurchase or transfer.<span><\/span>With <a href=\"https:\/\/www.electronicverificationsystems.com\/resources\/blog\/category\/Mobile+Payments\/\">mobile&#13;<br \/>\ntechnology<\/a>, the thief would see the notification email and they simply&#13;<br \/>\ndelete the email and the crime could possibly go completely unnoticed or at a&#13;<br \/>\nminimum go unnoticed until the awkwardsir, your card was declined moment.<\/p>\n<p>The month of June was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.electronicverificationsystems.com\/Resources\/Blog\/EVS-Reflects-on-Internet-Safety-Month.aspx\">National&#13;<br \/>\nInternet Safety Month<\/a>.<span> <\/span>Now that June&#13;<br \/>\nis over, we will soon be in peak vacation season amd a lot of us will be&#13;<br \/>\naccessing our bank accounts and paying bills using our mobile devices while on&#13;<br \/>\nvacation.<span> <\/span>We never want to be&#13;<br \/>\ndisconnected so we take our phone with us to the pool and beach.<span> <\/span>Until mobile devices become waterproof, we&#13;<br \/>\nare forced to either pay for a locker (which no one does), or hide the phone&#13;<br \/>\nunder the towel (which we are probably all guilty of).<span> <\/span>It would be extremely easy for someone to&#13;<br \/>\nquickly grab the device, do a transfer, wait the 30 seconds for the email,&#13;<br \/>\ndelete it, and disappear.<span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p>We all want the convenience of&#13;<br \/>\nhaving instant access to our accounts, but isnt protecting your hard earned&#13;<br \/>\nmoney worth an extra few seconds?<span> <\/span>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.electronicverificationsystems.com\/solutions\/\">EVS fraud&#13;<br \/>\nprevention solutions<\/a> can stop an identity thief from accessing accounts in&#13;<br \/>\njust thata few seconds! <\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><span>[Contributed by Eric Knapp, VP of Client&#13;<br \/>\nServices]<\/span><!--EndFragment--><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Gone are the days of losing a cell phone and the biggest worry being OMG, how am I going to get all my contacts back?
